What is a lipoma?

A lipoma is a benign tumor which is typically small, moveable, and painless. They are most commonly found in adults between the ages of 40-60, but can occur in people of all ages.

What is a cyst?

A cyst is a distinct, closed sac containing air, fluid, or semi-solid materials. The cells forming a cyst look visibly different to the regular cells. They may resolve on their own, however if they do not, then surgery is typically indicated.

The surgical removal of lipomas & cysts

Lipomas and cysts removal surgery is quite common and considered low-risk (depending on their location). They are typically removed using an open-surgery procedure and normally in an out-patient setting, depending on the size and location of them, as well as any additional factors or conditions.
